My 10 Day Egypt Itinerary
Everywhere we stayed, visited and dined during our magical trip to Egypt last February
Before I get started with my Egypt itinerary, some quick housekeeping - this email is long and might be truncated, if it is, just click see entire message. You can also read this on the website, on desktop (even easier is with an ipad) or in the app, you just need to download it.
Also I wanted to say a huge thank you to those who have recently upgraded and joined my membership, The Insider - the paid part of my Substack that gives you access to my full archive of exclusive content, travel guides and homeware & style edits. If you haven’t already joined, I do hope you’ll consider it; I spend a lot of time on my content here and I hope this space is becoming a good reference and sourcebook for everything design and interiors led, with a French twist. If there’s anything you’d like to see, do let me know - I always welcome feedback! Plus as part of the membership, you can ask me anything - just email me directly by replying to this email or pop a question in the comment section below. And if you can’t justify the upgrade just yet, do share with friends or on social media if you’re enjoying my newsletters, as it will help me reach new readers. Now on to the magical place that is Egypt….
Egypt is a country that I feel no words can truly do justice. You have to experience it to fully comprehend its beauty, culture and history. Seeing really is believing when it comes to this special place, as nothing quite prepares you for the magnificence and weight of history that seems to loom over you like the pyramids, making you feel at once insignificant and in awe. It exudes a kind of magnetism that you can only understand when you get up close to these relics of a bygone era - suddenly you want to know everything about them; each new temple inspiring an insatiable curiosity.
If you’re reading this, you might have already booked flights, or perhaps you are thinking about visiting and don’t quite know where to start with your itinerary. We spent ten glorious days exploring its marvels, which was just about enough time to pack in the highlights. Although in hindsight, two weeks would have been better, just so we could have spent a little more time relaxing. But then again, we weren’t really there to relax - I was on a mission to do, see, eat and to soak up as much as possible of this wonderful country.
As you may know if you’ve been following me for a while on Instagram, I am passionate about interiors and design, style and great food - all the aspects that make up the beautiful things in life. I spent weeks researching the best things to see and do, and where to eat and stay; it literally became my part time job as I combed through the enormous amount of online Egypt travel advice (not all of it good) to plan our trip, to make sure we not only saw and explored the best of the historical sites and temples, but that I also catered to our design, art and interior interests, choosing to stay or dine in beautiful surroundings.
I received a lot of questions during our trip about where we stayed, dined and which Nile cruise company we booked with and was admittedly hesitant to share everything, as it took me such a long time to plan and compile that I didn’t want to give all my hard work and knowledge away for free (plus we paid for everything ourselves - I didn’t set up any collaborations), when there are tour companies who are paid for this kind of work. So I have been waiting for a safe space like this Substack platform to be able to share my tips to my most loyal readers, so here it is insiders: our ten-day itinerary - enjoy!
