Project 7ème: all the sources
The fabrics, furniture, accessories & light fixtures that I sourced to create my clients' home
I’m thrilled to finally share photos of my first interior design client project and today in The Insider, I’m revealing all of my sources, including the paint colors, fabrics, light fixtures and accessories that I sourced to bring the space to life.
I remember opening the huge heavy door in the perfectly-appointed, elegant Haussmanian building just across the road from Trocadero in the 7ème arrondissement, walking up the red carpeted curved staircase and into my clients’ previous home on the 6th floor; a more than 200 square meter apartment (enormous for Paris), with a panoramic view of the Eiffel Tower and double reception rooms. I felt somewhat intimidated by the size of the space and also by the myriad of beautiful items, art and antique furniture that they had collected over the years and started thinking: am I up to the task?
They were moving to Paris’ left bank, downsizing slightly, and wanted help to create a home that would breathe new life into the furniture they already had and highlight their beautiful abstract art collection. They were also interested in working with an interior designer to help them create a completely different space to what they were currently living in, which was mostly beige and didn’t reflect (in my opinion) their personalities, highly social and active lifestyle and love for travel. Despite its smaller square footage, the new apartment is just as impressive, with a balcony, large reception rooms and beautiful views over a garden. It was also fortuitously a blank slate. They are renting and the previous tenants had done nothing to the space (all the walls were white), which was great for us. And while they couldn’t change everything, there was a lot of potential…
