Welcome to another edition of The Insider. One of the questions I get asked the most is: where do I stay in Paris? Of course there are the well-known ultra luxury 5 star hotels, such as The Ritz, Le Royal Monceau and The Peninsula, but however beautiful they are, I feel like there’s often a sense of intimacy that is lost in larger hotels, plus not everyone has the budget to stay in them.
When I visit cities, I prefer to stay in either Airbnbs (which I’ll be talking about at a later date), so I can get an idea of what it really feels like to live there from a local, or in smaller, more intimate boutique hotels that have a unique personality that reflects the city where they’re located. I also have a particular criteria - they not only need to be comfortable - thick comfy mattresses (but not too soft), preferably with a headboard, crisp white sheets and fluffy pillows and where the atmosphere of the room feels warm (there’s nothing worse than a cold, uninviting hotel room), but they also need to be well-designed, with beautiful interiors (down to the tiny details such as plugs and light switches) that make me feel something emotionally and that actually work for guests.
So I’ve dived deep into my repertoire of Parisian addresses to bring you my best hotels for design-lovers. I’ve spent a long time editing down my list, to create a curated selection of the most beautifully-designed hotels in the French capital that are also affordably priced - ranging between 200 - 500€ a night, and I’ve included a couple of my favorite higher-end hotels that would be perfect for a special occasion, like a birthday or anniversary. Do let me know if you have a favorite and add it in the comments. Enjoy!
